I am in love with Protein Bars! Unfortunately they don't love me.
The ingredient "Whey Protein Isolate" in short means "
MILK" and if you have an intolerance to lactose you may encounter the same
sort of fate I did. So I decided to take my complaint to Pinterest to find the
best recipes I could. This one so far was my favorite, I modified it to fit what
I already had in my home.
Ingredients:
1 cup Old fashioned Quaker Oats
1/3 cup of honey
1/2 cup Bulk Nuts and Seeds (I got them from the Kroger Grocer)
3/4 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup of chocolate chunks
Pour all of your ingredients into a bowl.
Mix with a spoon.
Roll into 15, 2-3 tbsp. balls and refrigerate for at least one hour.
When I make these again I will use a 1/4 cup of honey (they are very sweet) and a 1/4 cup chocolate chunks.
It also would lessen the calories by 50 per ball! These are right at 210 calories a piece, but could be modified down to 160 easily. I am going to go fruity next time too with raisins and craisins. That will eliminate the calories from the chocolate, but I love chocolate so maybe not. LOL
Let me know if you try them!
